NEC Terrain Will Be AT&T’s Future QWERTY Smartphone
Android smartphones equipped with QWERTY keyboard never really caught on, but this doesn’t stop some manufacturers and carriers from offering them. AT&T could be planning to market a new model of the said phone category. The handset is allegedly named as the NEC Terrain. NEC is a major electronics company but it rarely sends its phones outside Japan.
Previously, we heard the NEC Media W dual-display smartphone at MWC 2013. Unfortunately, no specs have been revealed and all we have is an image of the phone. Meaning, we have plenty of room for speculation, but judging by its design, the Terrain could be a waterproofed or rugged device.
The leaked image was published by the reliable source in the industry, @evleaks, through a tweet. Based on what we see on the display, the phone may run Jelly Bean OS. There are also 4G LTE logo on the status bar and a set of virtual navigation buttons.
