Samsung Galaxy S5 Could Have Ruggedized Design
Samsung habitually releases multiple variants based on its flagship device, such as the more affordable Galaxy S4 Mini, camera-centric Galaxy S4 Zoom and rugged Galaxy S4 Active, all based on the designs adopted by the original Galaxy S4. However, the competition has started introduce better durability on flagship models, including latest Xperia models, which is certified for the IP67 standards.
Given the current trends for original launch device that is both tough and looks good, it would stand to reason that the South Korean OEM seeks to bring better durability across its future flagship models.
There’s a rumor that the basic model of Samsung Galaxy S5 will comply with IP67 rating, making it more resistant to water and dust exposures. So, users won’t need to worry if their Galaxy S5 unit accidentally falls into up to one meter of water in the pool for half an hour. The specter of bumped and dropped devices has haunted us for years, but the Galaxy S5 will be better suited for people of an intrepid nature.
